This is probably going to sound awfully stupid but what type of banking? As I understand there are many levels to it! I certainly don't want to work behind a counter at a retail bank!!

Something I would love to go into is working for a finance / insurance / investment company calculating risk of clients etc. I'm not sure what these people would be called though?

Not sure whether or not I would find Accountancy interesting or not, though believe it pays rather well

I'm about to take Financial Mathematics. And I also would love to work in the financial sector - finance/insurance/investment company. Am I going to the right direction?

I'm planning to take anything investment or finance in masters. Is this degree right for me?

Cheers

Now I'm taking A level - Maths, Business Studies, Accounting and As Design Technology.

I have offers from Loughborough and Leicester for Financial Mathematics and Soton for Mathematics with Actuarial Science.

I'm down to Lboro and Leicester and not sure which one for firm as both requirements are the same.

It'll be hard to get into investment banking with that degree, but insurance/accounting would be achievable.

I'd recommend Loughborough over Leicester.

Why'd you recommend lboro over leicester?

Anyway, I really like Maths. And want to use my passion for Maths in the financial world(-not science, not engineering). So I picked financial mathematics. And why do you think it'll be hard to get into investment banking?

The vast majority of people to enter (front office) investment banking tend to come from maybe a half-dozen top-tier universities.

Lboro has far more graduates entering the financial sector.
