getting into durham???

hi everyone just wondering...i want to do english at durham and i've got a good personal statement and an amazing english reference but i'm only predicted aab, (well abb at the moment, but trying to get my german teacher to change my grade) would i still be considered???????

Well, all I can say is that English at Durham is VERY competitive and probably one of their best subjects. You'll be heavily disadvantaged if you aren't predicted AAA.

I hate to be blunt :frown:

You will not get in. It's AAA or nothing, thousands of excellent AAA students get rejected each year, many people just miss the grades and are not allowed in with AAB, therefore if you're predicted AAB to begin with you will stand no chance. Are there are exceptional circumstances? If so you could e-mail the admissions tutor and ask if you'd be considered. However, I have the feeling that it's pretty strictly AAA.

I'm sorry to sound so harsh but it's best you know rather than getting your hopes up. Where unis say AAA-AAB it means you're slightly disadvantaged being predicted AAB, where it says AAA it means that you're very very unlikely to get in with AAB. There are loads of good unis at AAA-AAB though, Kings being one that springs to mind and supposedly UCL as well. Good luck with your app whatever you decide to do.

(you could always try and get your third subject prediction highered)
