Re: NHS Clinical Scientist RecruitmentMy friend and I both were rejected for Genetics yesterday.(Original post by TommoA)
I've been reading this thread since I applied for the genetics posts last year, but this is the first time I've posted as no one seems to be talking about genetics this year! Has any one heard anything yet? The wait is killing me! -
Re: NHS Clinical Scientist RecruitmentDo you have any NHS lab experience? My feedback from last year (when I applied with a BSc and a PhD in micro) was mostly regarding my lack of NHS experience. If you can't get an MLA job or a placement through your studies you should contact your local hospitals and see if you can volunteer for a bit.(Original post by getsuga)
Congratulations to those who managed to secure interviews, hope you guys get what you want at the end
I didn't manage to get any interview for Microbiology. Utterly disappointed because part of the reason for doing the MSc was hoping to get into diagnostic microbiology. Feel like I'm pretty useless and can't get any job...
Just wondering, is there any international students who applied to the STP managed to get any interviews? Thanks.
Since I can't get on the STP, anyone could advise me on how I could get pursue a career in microbiology, be it in UK or other countries where they think or know is good for micro? Would really appreciate if anyone could advise me on this as I really love this field.
Thanks.
As someone already mentioned you could go for BMS if your degree is accredited, or if not do the appropriate Masters.
If it's really what you want to do then you shouldn't give up just yet. You can apply next year after having cone away and gained some experience/skills/read up more on your subject.
I'm a bit annoyed to be honest that not all of the micro responses have been sent out before the holiday weekend. Surely it's all automated and therefore if you can send out some you can send them all. -
Re: NHS Clinical Scientist Recruitment
Got an interview for GI Physiology and Urodynamic Science! Can't quite believe it really! Has anyone else applied for this specialism and has anyone heard about any open days? I'm really struggling to find open days! I have sent out lots of emails but haven't had any luck yet! The interview looks terrifying and I really want to try and get some more experience before I go! It's so hard planning it around my final exams too!

Re: NHS Clinical Scientist RecruitmentWould love to know this too...as yet all i've heard of is quite a few people getting put on the reserve lists. Not heard of anyone being told they have or haven't got through to interviews though. Really would have liked to know before now but(Original post by atiteimportas87)
Hi!
Was just curious if anybody has been offered an interview for Clinical Biochemistry yet and if so, in which region?
Thanks!
So has anyone out there been told they have or haven't, just so i can read even more into this than i already have lol -
Re: NHS Clinical Scientist Recruitment
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone had any examples of the technical or general questions asked last year for the Clinical Biochemistry posts. Just hoping to get a feel for the type of things I should be looking over as I'm not too sure where to start. Good luck to everyone, and thanks so much for any advice anyone can give!
Thanks again,
Cath -

Looks like today isn't the day! The facebook site says ...We hope to send out the remaining emails next week...as in this week so we have another 4 days of this probably!
I guess it shouldn't matter as the dates for micro, biochem and whatever other specialisms weren't on that list won't be until after the 15th of May. It just seems a bit mean to send out some results for one specialism and not the rest for over a week :/ -

Re: NHS Clinical Scientist Recruitment
Everyone should hear by this friday 13th April except for haematology appplicants who will be hearing back sometime next week! Another weeks wait for me then
at least I can get on with dissertation rather than be obsessively checking my e-mails!
Good luck everyone
