Chinese influence in Korea and Japan
Anyone do/did Chinese history at university?

Could you recommend any useful sites/books/help regarding this topic. I'm talking about before 1000 BCE (AD).

    Any help appreciated!

The japanese imported much of their early culture from China, the japanese alphabet (kanji) is directly from the chinese alphabet. That's a good place to start researching, early history of Japan and their language that is. Can't tell you much about Korea, sorry.

Cheers, noted that point. It's for my first uni essay about the extent of which Chinese models determined developments in those two countries before 1000 CE!

    Its too hard!

Currently on my GAP. But I've read these.
    Imperial Chinese Armies: 200 BC-589 AD v. 1
Imperial Chinese Armies: 590-1260 AD v.2
    Ancient Chinese Armies, 1500 B.C.-200 B.C.

They usually bought in a set - but separately is fine too.
