If you don't get the right score, they will see your interviewer's analysis about you and they will decide. So the interview is mostly important for this, if you don't meet the conditional (which is pretty high).

I got an offer 3-4 days after the interview
Did they give you a reply to confirm your interview? I replied ages ago and I'm kinda freaking out as my interview is tomorrow and I realised they havent confirmed my reply yet

I think I sent them a letter to say I would be attending, it was fine, and I didn't get a confirmation.

EDIT: You probably already know it's fine..

I'm a current student, I help out with the UCAS interviews and it turns out something I may have told some of you is incorrect.

When I said I had never seen Brian Cox, that was true, but I also said you will likely never see him. It turns out that from September he will be teaching 1st Year Quantum Mechanics. http://goo.gl/BqwtP

WHAT?!?! I don't care if I'll be a second year, I'm going to those lectures.

Shame though, you won't get to see the brilliance of the current lecturer for that course. George Lafferty is hilarious.

Lafferty >> Brian Cox, anyway. It'll be interesting to see if he's actually any good as a lecturer though...

Just curious as to what grades you guys' offers were based on for straight physics. I am hoping to apply for 2013 entry later in the year and was just wondering realistically what they would want. I am taking 3 sciences and f.maths for AS and dropping bio for A2, so I will have F.maths, chem and physics for full A level and bio for AS. A*AAAa or something like that?
    Thanks

Well four years ago I was offered AAA, now the normal offer is AAA* I think. The prospectus should say.

On the website in the 2013 applicant section it says that the standard offer is going to be A*A*A-A*AA, if that's any help.

    Manchester University - Physics Interview
    Hi guys,

Has anyone had an interview for Physics at Manchester yet? Wondering if it's just a chat or if they test you academically etc.

    Thanks

More of a chat really. They'll be some Physics questions but it's more or less what you do at A Level

Basically, once you get there they'll tell you you've practically got a place. Interviews are for borderline cases, and something to use if you just miss your offer, as well as to get to know you a bit. The day is fairly informal.

Anybody had any interviews yet for 2013 entry?
I have one in december and was wondering what questions to expect, and also what to wear to the day?
    Thanks

But what do you wear to the interview?
Not a suit, the people in suits always look a bit silly in my opinion. Already seen a few people in suits for the open days being toured through the labs - don't do that. If you dress neatly you could probably wear 'everyday' clothes. You don't need to dress up smartly, just avoid looking messy.

Just to reiterate what has already been said, the interview is just a chat in most cases. There is the odd exception where an applicant is grilled with particle physics questions that were unreasonably hard (me ) but no-one else I spoke to had the same experience. I was very nervous in the lead up to my interview day - don't be, if you have been invited you have an offer. Congrats . Manchester is a fantastic university for physics, I'm having a great time so far.
