Naming Organic Compounds AS

The question is to name CH3 CH2 C Br (CH3)2

I'm not so sure how you'd name it because of the bromine being in the middle of the carbons. would the longest chain of carbons be 3? - hence it being a propane ... and the dimethyl side chains, what number carbon would you say its on?

please help! Confusion!!

Thanks! x:smile:
longest chain is 4, as

Br
C C C C
C

(fill in Hs around them).

Therefor it would be 2-bromo-2-methylbutane.
id say it was 2 bromo, 2 methyl butane
