What would be the five things you wished people had told you/you knew before you went to university?

1) how hard it would be being so far away from home!
2) how noisy it is living in halls
3) how stressful it is!!
4) that you have to walk loads just to go to the shop... and then walk back with really heavy shopping bags. (which kills your arms the next day!)
5) that you have to always WASH UP! grr

1. You cry for home even though you feel totally ready to leave.
2. You will need a LARGE DVD collection
3. There is a lot of downtime
4. Get a good mobile phone plan/contract
5. You never realised so many people were so much cleverer than you.

I just wish I knew more about Southerners - 1. how they end every sentence like it's a question, and 2. how much they talk about themselves. (in my house anyway)

Definitely these three, plus:

- Budgeting is more difficult than you may imagine if you intend to play hard
- With a few exceptions, don't expect too much from your course in the first semester

YES. I wasn't much a a dvd watcher at home but boy do I wish I had more with me at uni.
