How to make this fancy dress costume

We're having a night out soon for our football team for Christmas. We don't usually bother with fancy dress but when we do we like to do it proprely and be original, rather than army men or cavemen etc.

Our house have decided to do Zzzap fancy dress them for the five of us. One is going as smarty arty, another as cuthbert lilly, another as daisy dares and then 2 of us are going as Handymen.

Just wondered if people had ideas on how the two of us could make it. What things to use, we're not that good at creative. We thought of cutting a box in two and wearing that. Dressing all as black and having black body paint, with like rubber gloves. Not sure if a curtain would be madeable and some signs.

Think this would be better project for blue peter!

get a black curtain like cape thing, and only have arm holes.
get some shiny body paint for you hands and forearms. rubber gloves wouldn't skin tight and look strange.
if need be paint you face black too =]
