So this is the question i have chosen to do,

Were the Factory and Mines Acts of the 1830s and 1840s passed because of genuine concern for the poor or fear of revolution?

I have a few books that briefly mention the acts, but not in great detail. Could anyone recommend some metarial i could use for this assignment.

cheers

I dont know much about Britain at this point in time but i do know quite a bit about Europe and the international situation at this point. Remember there is a revolution in France in July 1830 which gets rid of one monarch and replaces them with a 'Citizen King' (Louis Phillip, Duc de Orleans), theres also subsequent revolutions in France between 1830-4. Then there is the year of revolutions (1848), the period is dominated by the threat of revolutions (also remember the Chartist and Luddite threats within England)
