So wot's your ideal firm and insurance choice assuming you don't get in on the MSc?(Original post by !LJ!)

If I dont get on any of the MScs I have applied to, i would really like to go to Cardiff, but i'll have to wait until I have had the interview and heard before I think about firm choices and insurance choices really. No point counting my chickens before they have hatched eh?
St. Georges sounds like a nice course, but really dont know if I could afford to live in London!
BSc
Plymouth- Unconditional
Bristol- Rejection
Southampton- Rejection after interview
Cardiff- awaiting interview
Cardiff Accelerated 2yr-awaiting interview
St. Georges- pending
MSc
Kings- pending
Birmingham- pending
Brighton (Rehab Sci)- pending -

Query re: Rehab Sci at Brighton - does that allow you practice in the NHS as a physio!? -

Well I dont have much choice at the moment other than Plymouth, so I'm not looking into any other uni unless I get the offers.
Good luck for King's! -

yep. Its called Rehabilitation Science MSc. Once completed, you are eligible for state registration as a Physio. Its just a different named course, but the same as all the other MSc Physio courses around really. It starts in March/April of each yr and based at Eastbourne Campus. If you fail to complete the course you can exit with a PGDip or PGCert in Rehabilitation Science (without the licence to practise Physio).(Original post by JackieS)

BTW I just had a look on the KCL website and according the the info under the MSc Physio Section, they do their interviews in March - so, seeing as march is only 2 days away we should be hearinh something anytime now - I would imagine they'll give 1-2 weeks notice. -
I drove to Brighton from Exeter a couple of weeks ago and it suprisingly didnt take me as long as i thought it would, not too much on diesel either! Trains are expensive though, wherever your coming from in the UK!!(Original post by *starbuck*)
Oooo Eastbourne...that's where I've got my interview a week on Wednesday!
Gonna cost me a bloomin' fortune to get there!

Yeah I'm going to...still gonna cost me £45 tho.(Original post by JackieS)
Starbuck - if you have a young persons railcard and book in advance it'll save cash!
Not as bad as the open day at UEL this Thursday...just priced up tickets for that and it's gonna set me back over £100 cos I need to travel at peak time!
Definitely gonna take a trip to student services tomorrow and see if I can blag some/all of it back!

No, I didnt do biology/human biology A-level (although I wish I had done now), I did Phychology, PE and random Art!
I didnt really think about doing Physio until I was studying at Uni. But A-levels dont really matter as much now as I have a 2:1. Not sure if Kings will take me on because of my a-levels,but it was worth a try anyway!
You've got a much better chance of getting in than me if your a-levels were good and come on....you have a 1st in Sports Therapy! -

Yeah but I have pants a-level grades! I had a place at Manc to do Physio and needed BBB, I got CCD and they told me to bog off! So a-level profile may hamper my application to KCL abit!(Original post by !LJ!)

You know...you could have actually applied with PE instead of Biology - some uni's will accept you with PE or any science, not necessarily Bio -

oh well I wasn't really thinking about Physio back then anyway. I'm happy with my degree, really enjoyed it and now looking at whats next with my education!!
What you doing now? I'm working as a Physio Assistant at a school for disabled and visually impaired children. I went for an interview for a NHS Physio assistant job and got offered it. Unfortunately it was only 25hrs a week and my present job is full-time, so I declined it coz I need the money!
It would have been a good thing to say at interview though, pitty. -

At the moment I'm working as a NHS physio assistant with people who have mental health problems - mostly over the age of 65 with dementia and depression. Also see some adults with others issues such as OCD, schizophrenia etc. Very very interested. Is only part time though which is really annoying. I went for one full time post but never got it and there were only part time posts around after that so I thought I'd get two part time posts. However, since then I've only seen full time posts or part time posts that want too many hours! I could have quit for a full time post but I'm really enjoying where I am so decided to just stick with it and worry about the money later.(Original post by !LJ!)

Also, just started using my degree and am working for the MK Dons football club for their academy (u9's-u18's) which is excellent..............learning loads......is only 6 hours a week (sundays - match days, and two evenings during the week for training sessions) - bit fed up of seeing ankle sprains though lol. Was voluntary initially but now their paying me, so am kinda making up for the lost cash! -

You've got sooooo much experience its mad!! I thought I had a lot! I'm a bit gutted that the NHS physio assistant job was only part time, would have liked to work there with elderly care, but there is no chance i'm going back to uni unless I have some money to get me through, plus I get the school hols with my job!! and the kids have finally got to know me by my voice (visually impaired kids) i like it there.
Keep me posted with kings info, interviews in March eh? fingers crossed!
