Default Anthropology at LSE

Hello, I was just wondering whether anyone could give me any advice/info regarding studying Anthropology at LSE.
I was initally going to put UCL as my london choice for Anth, but iv'e looked at the LSE site for this course and it looks better than I expected.

Anyone currently/hoping to study this subject got any advice as to why I should pick LSE?
Also, what do you think are the benefits LSE has as a whole over UCL?

Thanks

I'm an Anthro student at LSE. The main difference between LSE/UCL is the presence of material culture/biological anthropology in UCL's course.

Pick LSE. The department is fantastic. Seriously.. fantastic. I'm really enjoying it - the modules, the lecturers, fellow coursemates. For Social Anthropology in this country, you can't get much better.

Thanks for the advice Can you tell me any more info regarding Anthropology at LSE?

Also, is anyone aware if study abroad is possible at LSE, whether it be part of the course or just available as the study abroad programme?

Okay well let me tell you it's not easy. Be prepared to read a lot. Be prepared to study Marx in detail.

But yeah, as Kane says, LSE is just Social anthropology whereas UCL does material culture and biological anthropology. I guess it's just a matter of preference.

It's really interesting though.

There's a pretty huge difference in course content - it should be quite easy to discriminate between them.

I prefer LSE's course content, but then when I looked at the Unis as a whole, other than the teaching, UCL seems to have better location, accomodation & facilities. Really I'm stumped. If UCL's course doesn't require alot of scientific knowledge or anything for the biological aspect, I think at the moment I'm tempted towards there.

Well the Marx module is pretty hard it's really intense reading you really have to engage your brain.

The others are okay but it's still a lot of reading...I dunno people tend to think anthropology is a soft subject but it's really not. It's very manageable you won't not-be able to do it so long as you do the work which I guess goes for most subjects.
