The only caves I know of are the ones in the Broadmarsh centre :s-smilie:

And that might just be a trick! :s-smilie:

There's a tunnel from the Portland building to the Trent building though, does that count?

no there's a cave somewhere near the art gallery place by the lake. I'm not sure where it is either but my friends went for a rave there last year, they had fun.

There are many caves in Nottingham...under the Castle, under Broadmarsh shopping centre, they're everywhere. Because of them, Nottingham City Centre has the deepest pub cellars in the country.

But for the particular cave in question...

That actually sounds awesome, really hope there's one soon. Doesn't help pinpoint where the actual caves are though, I still want to check them out at some point!

Yeah there is a cave network under most of the city centre, it's all cut off now but some places will apparently let you take a look.

'cave' is a very loose term... it's more like a bit of a hollow in the side of a cliff.

If you follow the path along the lakeside, the 'caves' are about 50 yards or so past the ornamental archy things, directly in front of the trent building (assuming you're heading in the direction of FB/west entrance)

about here-ish: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=52.935914,-1.196112&spn=0.000299,0.000771&t=h&z=21
I live in one of them.

There's also a massive set of caves underneath the Bell Inn - in their cellar (which is also basically a cave) they found a trap door under a big pile of debris that goes even deeper underground, and apparently used to be used as a bonded port warehouse, which is directly underneath the Skipton Building Society. The guy who was doing the tour (I think it's every tuesday) said that that set of caves runs all the way up to Canning Circus. He said we couldn't go down there though as their insurance didn't cover it, but that if we wanted we could email the manager to ask if he could arrange something... although we never did get round to it.

Plus the old trip website says that if they're not busy, they'll show you round their cellars if you ask nicely... not done that one yet though.

What is now the Ropewalk pub on Canning Circus used to be called the Bierkeller.

The cellar in there is just a huge cave, but rather bizarrely, the building used to be the City morgue.

The autopsy tables were carved directly carved out of the stone, and these remained when the building use changed.

I'm not the kind of person that believes in ghosts etc, but that place was damn creepy.
If you go on the Nottingham Ghost Walk they take you down the Old Sal caves
