I've heard them all more or less, especially Univ of Chicago. Their economic institution is one of the best in the world, if not the best.

The UAA schools aren't really the same conceptually as the Ivy League schools, because the UAA really is a sports conference, and the Ivy League is, but is also...not... the Ivy League schools are all super good academically, whereas there is much more of a range within the UAA.

For instance, if for whatever reason you wanted to rank the UAA schools, this is what one might come up with:

-Chicago
-Carnegie Mellon
-Emory
-St Louis
-NYU
-Brandeis
-Rochester
-Case

For the Ivy League it's much harder to rank because they're all really strong (with Cornell being slightly less so, but still wonderful).

I have to disagree.

UAA Universities are generally all ranked in the top 50 in the US (not bad considering there are over 2,000 Universities and Colleges in America), and the relative ranking of each respective University depends highly on the area of study you're referring to.

For example, the UAA are ranked as follows with regard to Medical School:

(Adopted from http://www.studentdoc.com/med-ranks.php?ranktype=mix_rank&fetch_size=15&offset=0)

Washington University (#2 Nationally);
Emory University (#18 Nationally);
Case Western Reserve (#19 Nationally);
New York (#21 Nationally);
Rochester (#25 Nationally);
Chicago (#26 Nationally);

Carnegie Mellon and Brandeis don't have medical programs, but you get the point.
rochester yes (but reputation not known)
new york yes!!
chicago yes!!!
washington yes!!

Case Western Reserve University; - no
The University of Rochester; - no
New York University; - yes
The University of Chicago; - somewhat yes
Carnegie Mellon University; - somewhat yes
Emory University; = somewhat yes
Washington University in St. Louis; - no
Brandeis University - no
Curioussss
I was just curious if anybody from the UK or Europe in general had ever heard of any of the US Universities in the UAA (University Athletic Association).

UAA Universities include:

Case Western Reserve University;
The University of Rochester;
New York University;
The University of Chicago;
Carnegie Mellon University;
Emory University;
Washington University in St. Louis; and
Brandeis University

Thanks for your feedback
