Im kinda worried though because ive been told theres a large amount of essays involved, and i hate essays so much! x
There use to be a lot of presentations and essays, but the course leader is changing it - he's introducing exams, well tests he said, less presentations and a suitable amount of essays.
Im the 2nd intake for the course and have seen so many changes and I think your year will experience the new changes, which I feel are good changes. (Tbh I am jealous - as you have a lot more scope than I did).

Ahh okay, so will it be like an essay once a week or every 2 weeks or what, do you know? Im not the best essay writer in the world and i dont want my whole assessment and workload to be based around them!

The essays don't get going til about mid semester, which for me (2nd year) I have 3 due in between week 6 and week 7 and then another load right at the very end of the semester. So its basically done in two parts and in between that, (usually nearing the end of the semester) a few presentations will be done - for first year, I did one. (However the course leader is reducing them, drastically, so you could be lucky and have none . . .)
Im not good at essays either, but there is a thing @ the Uni called CAWNS (Centre for Academic Numeracy and Writing Skills). They are very good and helpful - so perhaps when you go, make an appointment with them for some help? . . .
You will be fine, honestly. The lecturers are friendly and helpful.
PS: Just make sure you research lots and lots and make use of the journals and books provided . . .do not rely solely on the internet. . . . .amount of times I have had that drummed into me, its more or less embedded now.

Once again, the dancing ballerina pulls me thru with some trusty advice! I'm sure we've spoken before... ?
Whats better about Gloucester?
lol no worries.
What's better about Gloucestershire?. . . .hmmmm - the uni give you 10% of your tuition fees when entering into 2nd and 3rd years . . . . , we have a free uni bus and fresher's events are apparently a bloomin good week or 2 or 3 . . .
Also the campus (Pitville) is located in a nice area of Cheltenham and in the summer time looks lovely.
Yehh - I thought that about the free bus and freshers events and the campus I'd be on looks so homely and friendly, course looks AMAZING and perfect...
But... I live in Birmingham and one of the things I really like is that its a busy city with sooo muchh to do and the place is so vibrant which I also felt when I looked at DMU in Liecester, and it'd kinda be my worst nightmare to live somewhere quiet and lovely, if thats makes any sense at all? Cheltenham seems so nice, especially, like you say, in the summer but I'm not sure if I could live there for 3 years...
Does that make any sense? LOL. Am I maybe getting the wrong vision of Cheltenham - is it not like that? I'm very open minded, so much about the uni seems so awesome!

Birmingham to Cheltenham is not far at all and the train service as far as im aware is very good (always go through Cheltenham from Gloucester when im on my way to Birmingham for a shopping trip ).
Yea I get what you mean . . . Cheltenham is good, there are lots of things to do to keep you busy . .perhaps plan a weekend in Cheltenham, stay there and see what you think and do the same for DMU, its what some people I know have done - to get the feel for the town.

Good thinking Batwoman! LOL Funnily enough, I'd sooooo do that for Cheltenham and almost certainly wouldnt for Leicester. I'm so indecisive... I think
If I was to travel down to sunny Gloucester in a couple of weeks, any suggestions where to visit? It DOES look really nice!

Thanks again DB!
Depends what you are into tbh . . . decent amount of shops to do some shopping (trust me to start talking about shopping lol ), good selection of bars/pubs/clubs, rugby (Glos Rugby Club - every Saturday that part of Gloucester is more or less blocked, no1 can move! ), the Docks (abit of history). Tbh Gloucester isnt too exciting in the winter, but its usually the summer when its lovely. Cheltenham again is sort of similar, with everything up and running in the summer, ie music festivals and etc. Actually the only event which is popular every March is Gold Cup - that week in Prestbury (5mins walk from Pitville) is heeving of the Irish and thousands of people, the Royals, also celebs, ie Footballers, ie John Terry, Frank Lampard have visited the Races . . .Also a lot of students work there, good earner.
My advice: have a weekend in Cheltenham and see how you like it from there . . .

I thought that too! Cuz im from near birmingham I go out there quite a bit and I thought it would be one of the main things I missed. But then i thought about it, its only a 40 min train journey from cheltenham to birmingham so you can easily go home for a weekend and go out then pop back to chelt! A few of my friends have applied to Birmingham uni so i'm just planning on crashing their halls and staying there when i go out haha right in the center of town
