Default Anthropology at UCL

Hey, I'm considering putting UCL as my firm for Anthropology, however I had wanted to study Social Anthropology in particular - I'm not really keen on the biological side.
The course at UCL is just 'Anthropology', but I notice you study Social Anthropology predominantly in this, though there is still some biological Anth within it.
I was just wondering whether anyone who is applying/currently takes Anth at UCL could tell me anything about it and how big a part the 'biological' side plays. Be really honest, I dont want to end up going somewhere I wont enjoy.

Any information on the course as a whole experience at UCL would be great too - why you chose UCL, how the teaching is etc.
THanks

My friend studied anthropology last year although she disliked the course and changed. But here is how the layout of the course works out I think:

1. Social
2. Biological
3. Material Culture
4. Optional module.

Effectively biological anthropology technically accounts for a quater of your course and study time like social anthropology.

The only advice I can give albeit very limited an anecdotal is that the archaeologists that took the first year social anth course (Luckily I didn't have to) found it very dull and preferred to spend monday afternoon in the bar than at the lecture.

Its held at the cruciform building. My friends a medic and I had to wait for him so I went into the lecture theatre to pass the time. It must be the only lecture I fell asleep on.

Yep that's the one, I was going to go to a few for the laughs, but one drink for the road in the union turned into 5 drinks for the road and we were too tipsy and late to even consider going !

I'm in the EXACT same position as you, I'm drawn between UCL and LSE's course. I prefer the social side of anthropology, so I'm not sure how much I would enjoy being forced to do all 3 aspects at UCL (material culture, biological and social)... Any insight? How biological is the biological aspect of Anthropology at UCL? Does it require a lot of pre-aquired knowledge?

I ended up applying, felt UCL would be better as a whole & a more realistic choice. Haven't heard anything back yet though. If i do get an interview I hope its not the same time as yours, I have exams all that week! x
