Economics PhD
Say I wanted to do an Econ PhD in a top US school, such as Stanford, MIT, Chicago, Harvard, Columbia etc, what is the minimum recommended maths courseload to take? Not that big a fan of maths, however am interested in getting more involved in development econ and apparently a PhD is the way to go. Am currently majoring in Econ undergrad. I heard linear algebra is pretty essential, any others (had to take Calculus, Stat and Metrics as part of my major already)

I know for political PhDs they have a base in linear algebra and calculus. By and large the US system places a lot more focus on advanced maths skills and quantitative skills.
Have you taken the GRE yet? For an Econ PhD you'll need a very competitive quantitative score
