It has to be Red/Blue/Yellow. Awesome awesome little games which I still know inside out. I have them on my phone, and play them on the bus Also, you could link em up to Pokemon Stadium, which was just I could probably still name every one of the 151 pokemon, in order, and what levels the evolve at and probably what they learn at what level....

Gold and Silver were very good though.... if not a bit too much to swallow.

Clearly Gold/Silver.
I got Blue first, then Yellow on launch day, then Silver on launch day.

I played Silver non-stop for days. The whole 'new pokemon' thing was awesome at the time. That and 16 badges + fighting 'Ash' (ie Red) at the end + awesome soundtrack + the kickass Johto cartoon going on at the time = best Pokemon game.

I swear the months after it came out, my life was just dominated by Pokemon. The TV show...Silver...Pokemon Stadium.

Then I got my Pikachu N64...

Agreed. My Silver internal battery is dead! I think my Crystal version is too! I actually cant play it anymore...Remake would be awesome.

I did this! It's a way of almost tricking the random encounter engine in the game... I think you catch a lvl. 7 Mew or something.

(And no, I don't mean the truck thing by the SS Anne. I did fall for that whan I was younger)

As always the only difference is that each has pokemon that are exclusive to that version. You just have to decide which you like best.
