AQA A/S Biology - Biology and Disease (BIOL1)
Hey! Thought I'd make a thread about this because there's nothing on here to do with the new spec.

I suppose I ought to start this off, so, I was just wondering:

    A) is it true the grade boundary for an A is just 40/60

and B) Has anyone got any resources to aid revision about the heart and circulatory system?

    Hope this thread gets used!

    no, 48/60 is 80%

    thats your A

and heart and circulatory system is covered in the AQA spec textbook, just read, make notes, then re read, then make simpler notes

hey, ignore the guy above. The predicted boundaries for an A grade in the biology module this janurary is between 39 and 44.
AQA are unsure though, as it is a new specification.

To revise always get the officially endorsed text book and know everything in it. If you do, you are guaranteed 100%.

i know what you mean, every single year we get a new spec. but the new biology course is "supposedly" a lot easier...so it might actually be a good thing.

My year always just missed out on new syllabuses.

The new GCSEs basically give away the grades compared to before and A levels are even easier now (4 modules instead of 6).

Haha! I know man! I ALWAYS get new syllabus's! My year were the first to do that new triple science from AQA.. drove us mad because we had no material to go by!

I'm getting really confused though between the three lung diseases, has anyone got a good way of remembering them without getting the symptoms mixed up?

    There are four lung diseases..

Pulmonary TB, Pulmonary fibrosis, Emphysema and Asthma.

I sometimes get a bit muddled with the symptoms too- but I don't think theres any easy way of remembering them apart from just learning them.

Most of them have 'shortness of breath' or in the case of asthma 'difficulty in breathing'.

Do they not wait until after the exam has been sat to set the grade boundaries? So they can lower them for a hard exam, raise them for an easy one etc.

    80/100 UMS is an A
    70/100 a B and so on

No raw boundaries until the paper has been sat by everyone and it has been marked and standardised..

I think my hate stems from this boards awfully awkward questions and mark schemes :shifty:
