Default Can anyone recommend any good AS/A2 level maths books for C1 Edexcel?

Hiya guys

I am in meed of some excellent A level Edexcel mathematics books, I know there are tones out there but I dont know which ones are the best and most effective. So if anyone could post me any links, that would be useful.

Much appreciated

Your school shoudl beable to provide a list of books...don't they hand you out a textbook at the beginning of the year?

These are from AQA, but they're excellent. If you're the type that can learn out of books, then you can actually self teach yourself everything from here. (only topic I'd say was lacking it trigonometry, but that just one out of what, 40 over the whole of A2?)

Very easy to comprehend, LOTS of worked examples and lots of questions to test yourself.

Good idea, but be careful with this because all the exam boards have different things in each of their books!

http://www.heinemann.co.uk/Series/pr...=9780435510978 this will show you all the stuff you need for your exam, but I don't find it a particuarly good book to learn from.

it depends on which maths you're doing. for core maths, i guess the best choice would be the Hienemann Modular Mathematics for Edexcel As and A level series: Core maths1, 2 (AS) & 3,4 (A2) + your option units. You should also buy the revision guides for each, it really helps when you have to revise and dont have enough time to go through the whole book.

or if you want a general, wholesome understanding of A level maths, then you might want to look at books like, "Mathematics, The Core Course for A Level" by L Bostock and S Chandler, or "Pure Mathematics 1&2" by J K Backhouse. i used these books to study for additional mathematics at IGCSE, and you'll find them really useful, particularly for C2 onwards, they don't dwell too much on the basics, but explain the major concepts really well, with lots of examples and problems for practice.

sorry, i didn't read the title of the thread properly

Yes, the new edition of Core Mathematics 1 (or even the 2004 one for that matter) and its revision guide will be a good choice (if you can work through the basics without much difficulty, that is)
