Exclamation Am I doing enough for my AQA AS-level C1 Maths Exam?

Hey Guys,

Well today I continued revising for AQA AS-level Maths after 7days and I felt like I had forgotton a slight proportion of it and felt nervous doing practise questions.

I usually go through my textbook chapter by chapter practising questions and reading. I have 2chapters left to do which are Differentiation & Integration. After that I will look through all my class-work and then do past-papers and try and aim for 85%+, if I am weak in any areas I will concentrate on them areas with the aid of my textbook.

The question is am I doing enough for my C1 Maths exam on the 9th January 2009 for an A grade?

Please post relevant comments/advice below !

Thanks

Amit

Well sounds it from what you're saying, but it depends on your mathematical ability; how you've been performing in class tests ect. When doing past papers, getting to the point where you feel confident of getting 85%+ on the next paper you do is where you want to be

it will come down to the day of the test I think. It's best to do practice papers, but you've got to feel confidence and able to work out unusually problems on the test day.

I did past papers all the time, highlighted the topics I was dropping marks on,
then went and revised them topics.

It worked too.
Got 99% after getting 51% in my mock

??

Whilst that comment is wild, the fact is C1 is by far the easiest paper and should be getting 90 UMS for an A grade at A level. I think a better way of revising than whta you are doing would be to do a practise paper (if you are with AQA there is no end to them!) and highlight the questions where you lost marks. Identify if these are careless mistakes or gaps in knowledge. If care-less mistakes find out why you did these try to reduce the chances of doing them again. If you have gaps in knowledge, go over the theory thouroughly from the text book.
Sadly its a lot about exam technique and there is only so much they can ask you in C1. Once you are confidant with all the types of question, you can get 100% every time assuming you eliminate careless mistakes

Well it's more than what I've done anyway, but C1 isn't exactly that hard.

Not everyone is good at Maths/is aiming for an A (although C1 is pretty easy)

if you're not aiming for an A at C1, you'll struggle to get an E overall
