Why not just pick it up whilst over there, make friends with locals or volunteer your services to a local school. To learn a langauge in a few weeks even with the best help is difficult, mayb download a few online audio books to start getting prepared.
I'm a Brazilian living in Portugal, so if you want, I can give you some pointers/information for your stay here/in Brazil... I'll PM you my MSN/AIM adress if you want...
