Yeah, most of it, did about 3-4 hours after i got back from christmas dinner, but i got a new TV, so was on my PS3 for the rest.

So the rest of the time you're revising instead of going on your brand new ps3? Do less revision, more ps3

Troll... A levels are so easy 2-3 hours a day is plenty. Do something extra-curricular instead.

Lolz you are not even doing much work at the moment. Yeah mate most people do 14 hours a day, didn't you know?

I think because some people exams are next week that the OP has every right to revise for however long they want due to them being next week!!!!!1111 but if this has been like everyday it is a bit strange....however like I said they are next week so revise until you feel content....but still 8 is a bit too much...maybe cut it down to 6 or something?

I don't know how someone can actually enjoy A level revision....

Okay, so you're being serious about revising for 8-9 hours per day.
Let's say you wake up at 7:30am, have breakfast and revise from 8am, this means that you revise (with 15 min breaks) until at least 4pm.
You do that everyday. Which means you cannot possibly have enough time to lead a 'normal life' (socialising, relaxing etc).
You've got to be exaggerating otherwise you are in fact crackers.
I undersatand that you want to do well but what you say you're doing is just ridiculous - life isn't all about grades.
If you want to end up miserable, burnt out and seriously lacking in social skills carry on.
You can still get good grades however if you timetable yourself a reasonable amount of work and socialising.

The part that I highlighted seems to me as if you think it's some kind of acheivement/you're trying to start a 'i've revised this long' contest. :s-smilie:

I'm sure your parents support you trying to learn, I just don't think they support you overdoing it and not enjoying your life in the process.

I am not exagerating.
At the moment, i get up at about 10:00, have breakfast, revise at 10:30 and do 45 min sessions with 15 minute breaks, all day, with an hour off for dinner and tea. I usually finish about 9pm at night

Obviously this is different when it isn't holidays.

I take your point, thank you:smile:

i'd be happy with that on one day :O!

There is nothing wrong with working hard and wanting to be the best that you can be. Don't feel bad if all you want to do is study.
Do you like revise the whole syllabus of one subject in one day? 8-9 hours is excessive, and pointless. I can get above 90% in all subs with 2-5 hours of study each day with one day off. Seriously, find something else to do with the precious time, you won't have much when you go to your uni (no sure abt that though :P).

I have to say that 8-9 hours is quite a lot, my chemistry teacher said that that much time is required in university revision, so you are doing a heck of a lot. I have to say you are very committed and that is a very good sign, I used to spend half that time in my AS levels, and I didn't get the best grades but they were passes. I am on A2 and I would spend more time.

What you should do is keep revising, and if you feel you are doing well on a subject or a particular module, reduce the revision time for it, then you can spend more time on harder stuff or have some time to enjoy!

Yeah I have 5 exams next week, however I am doing no where near 8 hours a day. More like 3, maximum...
You don't need to revise that much. But good on you for overpreparing, most people wouldn't. Still, try getting someone to test you - I expect that by now you know everything ridiculously well, and if so perhaps you should lay off the revision.
How many A-Levels are you doing? You shouldn't need to do 8-9 hours per day, if you've prepared properly hitherto and aren't doing over four/five A-Levels.

This makes me feel bad for my total of one hours revision this whole holiday.

It's not how many hours you do, it's how much you learn.

You are maybe doing a bit too much, my strategy for the AS's last June was to go to the library for 6 hours a day, and I took weekends off.

My grades were AAAB.

If you enjoy it however, carry on!

I guess your family is just concerned about you with the all work and no play makes jack a dull boy thing, coz i assume that studying for all those hours does mean that your family members dont get to see you around the house too much. I also study for quite long hours, many times late into the night and as a result i sleep late and then have difficulties in getting up, that's why my parents usually advise me to get up early in the morning to study as opposed to working late into the night. But if you feel that you need it, and its not having any adverse effects on you, then by all means, go ahead and study, coz your future i.e. your career is most important right now. You could try to talk to your parents and try to make them understand, and once in a while, take the day off, you know, relax, chill out, that way, hopefully you'll look a lot more 'normal' your family members...

I can't believe that after 40 replies, not ONE person who's willing to tell him that's it's too much has even bothered to ask him which subjects, and how many he's taking?

Maybe, just maybe, he actually needs to study that much. Though perhaps he could give himself a bit more leisure time, some people take comfort in knowing that they're not wasting anytime.

I mean, hell, I've pulled off 10-13 hours a day for a few weeks (BUT, that was NOT for A-levels, for my MCAT). But, it is possible.

OP: Do what you gotta do to get what you wanna get. Tell your parents just that.
get a life tbh
