Downgrading MSc to PGDip

Hi

I m currently doing a MSc but have been thinking about downgrading to to the PGDip, I just want to know if anyone has done this out there, what do employers think of the PGdip? Some people seem to think that once you have experience it doesn t matter about qualifications, and some people think MSc is better than a PGDip.

I m thinking of methods of how to approach my course coordinator as he is a bit intense about the course, and will be disappointed that I m doing this, so how did you do it? I m not confrontational, but I am not intimated easily, I just want an stress free life.. Reason I am doing this is that I m going on to do a MSc next year in something more specialised, although in the same area, and don t think its necessary to write a project for this course.

cheers
It's simply negative.

I was kinda in the same situation as you a few yrs back. I was on a MSc and left early and got a PG Cert. A PG Dip is obviously better and close to a full MSc. A few people on my course only went for the PG Dip who actually already had careers in the industry and were sponsored by their employers.
The way i look at it is that the course trained them to a level their employers required them to be and deemed the project unneccesary.
Each employer will be different in regards to your qualifications, its just that way. I would specifically research the employers in general that attract you and see what they require, phone them up!. There's no point assuming they prefer a MSc or something else as employers will look at other aspects such as what skills you are trained in and any work experience you have.
Were you planning on doing the 2nd masters course before you started the 1st or decided once you started?

I decided after I had started. Its much more specialist than the one I am on.

Thanks Rainbow_85 for your insightful answer
