Am I mad? I have my GCSE official maths exams on 9th Jan, yet I'm doing further maths
Hi
I have my official GCSE maths exams next week on the 9th Jan, yet I cannot stop studying Further maths. I'm hooked on imaginery numbers and matrices. Although, I really need to do some GCSE maths revision, but I just can't. I contemplate doing revision for my maths GCSE exams although further maths still seems to dominate my free time

Enthusiasm was never a bad thing. Hopefully if you understand complex numbers and matrices, things like completing the square should be a bit of a doddle for you...

If you really want to study at a higher degree, why not study C1, C2, C3 and C4 in your spare time? C1 espcialy. - Simply alot of it is extention of the GCSE content (not to say the application modules such as S1 isnt.... but the core modules more so =])

You mean Additional Maths I hope?? Further maths is an A-level subject. Additional maths is the FSMQ you can do in your GCSE years. If it's actually further maths then seriously congratulations

I agree, there will be plenty of time for further maths later on, but if you don't do well in your maths GCSE you might not even be allowed to study further maths at A level. Being enthusiastic about it is great, as long as it doesn't affect your current grades.

Imaginary numbers seem cool at first, but then you see FP3...and they seem even cooler, but kind of hard at the same time.
I'd agree with the above aswell, look at C1, it's basically the A* stuff from gcse with some extra bits on sequences, series, and calculus.
Better yet, do nothing, otherwise by the time you get to your 2nd year of a-level you'll be really bored and have to start looking at uni stuff.

Thanks.
It was a bit unexpected really, but I hear some others have got their acceptance/rejection letters through the post/email as well, so it's all quite random isn't it? Good luck with your application! I hear NatSci is one of the most interesting courses that's offered.

Do whatever you want, it's your life. If you don't want to revise for it then don't. I don't see what you're trying to achieve by this thread apart from trying to tell us all you're studying maths at a level which you don't need to.
