Default Taking a year out halfway through?

I'm halfway through my second year of university and I've had a lot of problems throughout my first semester, which will ultimately lead to me failing this semester. I am thinking that a proper break is what I really need, as I have a lot of health issues, some directly connected to my being at university.

Does anyone know how to go about taking a middle year out, as in, so I stop now and start my second year again in September?

I've heard that student loans can cover you for 4 years rather than 3, is this true?

Sorry this is a bit scatty

Go and speak to your tutor at the university, and ask them their policy on it.

Well yes I am planning to do that tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone had had a similar experience or knew anything about the student loans side of it

You won't actually be spending a fourth year at uni, so I shouldn't imagine student loans would be a problem.
Do you know what you'd do with the year out?

I've done this, but I was in first year and was able to get the tuition fees refunded. If you can't, then student loans can still cover you for four years. If your uni allows it, it should be easy to sort out, and you might be able to take an "interrupted year" out by signing a form and informing student loans about your situation. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.
