Hi there,
m a mature student with Law Degree from Karachi University, Pakistan, wanted to join the BVC or LPC, but i was refused by the concerned authorities in the respective field, it gone worse when they preclude me to apply for GDL wiith the tag "not eligible" but they gave me a green signal for LLM, as my eager for doing BVC remains stable due to the worldwide recognition, doing LLM will not give me the QLD Degree here in UK, instead of going through the channel LLM>GDL>BVC/LPC, m thinking to repeat LLB(UK)>BVC/LPC,
when we choose LLB Senior Status does it matter over LLB 3years in reputation and standings for jobs? m looking forward to hear for you people to which Uni. i shud go for, m already 29, further more i wana hear from u people which Uni. to choose for? m considering City Uni. London, Queen Mary Uni., Nottingham Law School and Salford (Manchester Greater) Uni.,
i really need a good advice.................
On what basis were you deemed ineligible for the GDL? You just need a degree, any degree.
If you do a senior status degree QM seems the best out of that list; I wasn't aware that Nottingham Law School offers one. Take a look too at Birmingham, they do one I think.

May be on the ground that i dont owe a 4years bachelors degree, i owe 2 years Commerce and 3years Law degree, but i still has 5 year after 12th, its really embarrassing when i was refused by the Bar Academic Concerned, he unveiled to me that shocked me too, on what ground specifically NO IDEA,
You are right dat Nottingham doesn't offer any Senior Status LLB, but i was talking as general, so according to you QM Uni. is better then City, but there is an advantage in City that i can go ahead to LPC or BVC i doubt QM Uni. offers these courses.

Are bachelors degrees usually 4 years in Pakistan then? Because in the UK a standard 3-year degree is sufficient.
QM does have a much better reputation than City, yes. It does not offer the LPC or BVC but then nor do most universities and this should not really be a factor in your decision (unless perhaps they give you some kind of discount? But this is unlikely to be significant).

In Pakistan usual is to do 2years bachelors, but for last couple of years tradition taking steps to move toward 4years bachelors making the 16 years of academic studies, which is worldwide acceptable, and the private universities with good reputation are very much appreciated by the students who wish to join them, but there is a strong protest against upgrading the 2 years to 4 at Govt. Sectors and that is the reason it has not gain the 4year bachelors and the Uni. at Govt. sector runs for some departments 4 years and 2 years for others, if there had not been a protest, there would have been no 2years bachelors for last couple of years but it still runs in our country, i wonder y,
thanks for advising nd giving ur views over the comparison b/w QU and City, its appreciated nd i will keep this in my mind, so what about the reputation of University of senior status LLB outside London?
I am guessing that maybe you need to get a degree more in line with UK standards, so you may need to top up some modules, You need to find out from the BVC providers exactly what is required.

Don't know about, quiet rigid somehow, and terrible, most probably the reason behind, its from Pakistani University with less then 4 years at once as graduation, on the other hand i have 2 years Bachelors in Commerce degree too after completion of my Intermediates.
Yes but for a GDL you dont need a QLD. Any degree will do, so maybe you need a british degree, in which case you should be able to get credit transfer for the first two years or maybe one.
Have you asked them? I cant imagine they wouldnt tell you the reason your degree doesnt make you eiligible.
yeah you are probably right, it should work and and i am thinking to one more try to contact the representative at Bar Standard Board, the person i was in correspondence with Steve Behr for academic stage for Bar, regards.
