Default Planning Exercises

Does anyone have any planning exercises saved or know of any on another site? I know they were on the following link a while back, but have since expired! --> http://www.find-it-fast.co.uk/exercises.html & http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=157153

Planning exercises? Simple, choose the wettest, coldest and loneliest place in Europe (i.e. Brecon), dump a load of squaddies there, make up some daft scenario and then spend the next week/fortnight/month/year playing with said squaddies as though they're action men until everyone from CinC LAND is threaders enough to call endex and bugger off home. Not until you've cleared up the training area for the next bunch of unfortunates to pass through of course.

Has anyone completed the Botanist one yet? I did it within the 20 mins OASC allow for, is this harder than the ones at OASC or relatively similar in terms of difficulty?

Being able to complete it is not the whole task. Once you have come up with your solution, you will have to present this solution to the board. They will then ask you questions on why you chose this route. So make sure once you have your solution, you dont sit there for 10 mins waiting! Look at other ways you can complete the task as well. That way you can say " I looked at travelling by car, although this increased the time and Walking this distance would not have been practical. This is why I chose to take the bike"

Thats purely an example. Also, be prepared for a lot of "what if" questions. They love them! Like, what would you do if you got a puncture and you didnt have a repair kit" Another frequent one is when relying on public transport "what if its running late or is cancelled" Thats why its important to look at as many means of completing it as possible!

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks Night flight, makes sense to use up all the time available. I felt the maths was very easy, yet absorbing the info on that botanist question was the hardest part, especially in such a short space of time!

Thanks again for the advice

Yeah, the maths is normally alright. Nothing too strenuous! When I sat mine, there was a little table on the map that showed you SDT calculations so you didnt even have to work them out! The only thing thats annoying about them is the amount of useless info they include in the brief!
Good luck with it...
