Whats the wifi/internet connection like in the accomodation or around campus?
Around campus - there's wifi in just about all the teaching buildings. There's a colorful map floating around the internet somewhere if you want to know about anywhere in particular - google "iss lancaster wifi".

Re: AccommodationThere probably won't be wifi, depends where you are going for though. I know the newly rennovated Furness Standard has Wifi. And I've never known anyone have a problem with the cables...you may want a longer one if you want to sit on your bed with in though in an ensuite!(Original post by BeccaCath94)

Re: AccommodationThe cables are quite reliable, and we haven't really had many problems with them in our flat. As far as I'm aware, phones that need wifi don't work in our rooms here in County, although they may in some others; the people I know who have them generally just stick to using their laptops to access the internet in their rooms, and when they need to use wifi on phones and such just nip down to the Learning Zone or around there and do whatever they need to. Generally speaking, many of our lectures will be just a couple of steps away from a Wifi zone (for example, Faraday building lectures are very close to Alexandra Square, from where Wifi spots are easily accessible), so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I'm just so used to having wireless broadband and wifi at home but i guess that wont be the case at what ever uni i go to! -

Re: Accommodationi applied to law and social science foundation year and got a conditional acceptance anyone recommend any "catered" accommodation ive read alot about the different colleges and all but havent rlly set my mind to anything so far ive picked County, Furness, Fylde, Pendle, Grizedale. thanx in advance P.S: im aiming for ba politics with international relations when im done with my foundation mybe bowland im also looking for not a cheap accomo. but a reasonable one btw im aiming for standard bedrooms

When do we get sent accommodation applications?Hey, I've firmed for Lancs for Advertising & Marketing,
This will probably seem like a stupid question but I can't seem to find where it says when we get sent the forms/application stuff for accommodation.
Does anyone know? (Bet you it's in a really obvious place and I'm just blind as a bat...)

Re: When do we get sent accommodation applications?You will get an email quite soon, usually late May or early June, asking you to choose the type of accommodation you want and your two choices of college.
You need to reply to it by the closing date.
Then you won't hear anything until after results day, when you will be told which college you are in. -

I got an email from SF saying the money would be paid to me 'a few days after the beginning of your course' which is excellent, naturally, but if it comes through after the rent is due, what am I supposed to do about this?? Help please!!

Townhouse or County superior standardI'm going to Lancaster this year and I'm thinking of applying for either a county/Grizedale townhouse or county superior standard accommodation. was wondering whether anyone at Lancaster atm could give me any advice to help decide? I really want somewhere with a social area and as far as I know these are the only accommodation types that have one. are these 'sociable' halls? I'm not bothered about having an en-suite!
