Re: University of Nottingham 09!Well, you'd end up being members of a lot of music societies(Original post by LozengeC)
Yeah, that's what's making me hesitant, plus I'm not just into that genre.
And why don't they make kids clothes/costumes for adults?
Hehe.
I'm sure you'll get in! So have you been to Nottingham much before?
x
Lol, yeah I know, I used to have a batman outfit back in the day lol.
Yeah I hope so.
I went to the open day and I really liked the place. The campus is huge, and there's so much to do. How about you? -
Re: University of Nottingham 09!Yeah, I think I'll maybe give the music societies a miss.(Original post by vinsta)

And I'm sooo impressed by that fact!
And I live an hour away by bus (and probably 30 minutes away by car) so I go quite often, so if you have any questions about the city feel free to ask away.
So is Batman your favourite character in the series?

Lol, I have no idea where it is now though, I think my mum may have given it to Oxfam or something
My Grandparents used to live in Notts, around Woodthorpe, so I know that area pretty well, and of course Victoria centre. How rough is Vic. centre now, it's been about 10 years since my Grandparents moved? If I have any other queries though, I won't hesitate to ask.
Has to be Batman
Although I do like The Joker, you?
Edit: Thanks for the rep

And I don't go in that often, I tend to stick to the highstreet, but it's not too bad, but there are quite a few chavs.
My dad's friend actually lives above the Vic Centre (there's a block of flats up there, it's not like he's a crazy person hehe).
I love Harley Quinn, she's so funny, I do see a lot of myself in her.
And the Joker's quite cool, but I prefer Batman to him.
And no problem.

That's what I seem to remember, a lot of chavs just hanging about. Lol, now that's called living life on the edge
Yer she does get used by The Joker though, and then she keeps going back
Good decision

Re: University of Nottingham 09!Yeah, it'd be really bizarre if you could.(Original post by vinsta)

There are some cool bits, but it seems to be getting more chavy shops in there, so yeah, stick to Hockley.
I always want to hit the Joker, and tell him to be nice.
Haha. She's quite cool with Ivy though.
You should start Bat Soc, you might get a load of vets joining, and getting confused though, or Twilight superfans.

Re: University of Nottingham 09!Sounds like Wolverhampton tbh. How far is Hockley from the uni?(Original post by LozengeC)

Lol, he's not bothered about her. Yeah true that, Ivy is a nice person though. A batman society could be interesting, although we would have the image of being 'weirdos' lmao. My sister's reading that Twilight book, but after Harry Potter, it's not worth reading any other book
-
Re: University of Nottingham 09!It's just next to the square, like between there and the ice area. And to get to the square will depend on which campus etc, but if you're walking it takes 30 minutes from the QMC, and about 5/10 minutes by bus. It's really easy to get to.(Original post by vinsta)

And yeah, but with the film I think we'd be classed as less geeky than we would have 5 years ago or something.
I've read the Twilight books, the inital idea's interesting, but the books aren't.
And I'm not a massive fan of HP either. Look up Chris Wooding, he's good.
-
Re: University of Nottingham 09!Oh, I know where you mean, just didn't know it was called that. 30 mins isn't too bad I suppose, but I'd rather catch a bus(Original post by LozengeC)

Lol, yeah, especially with how successful the film was.
Well the Americans do tend to over exaggerate occasionally
HP is great, the best series ever written
(except perhaps for Lord of the Rings)
-
Re: University of Nottingham 09!Yeah, that's ok, I think it's also called the Lace Market, or is adjacent to it, I'm never sure where the boundaries are.(Original post by vinsta)

Hehe, occasionally?
And it really isn't, the characters are so 2D! I have Lord of the Rings, never bothered reading it yet, because the films were really hard to pay attention during. Hehe.

Re: University of Nottingham 09!I've forgotten that area of Notts since it's been such a long time(Original post by LozengeC)

Lol.
2D, what do you mean? I admit there isn't as much character depth as are present in other books, but it's for kids, so I think that can be waved
I haven't read LotR, the films were so good, the books would be a disappointment
-
Re: University of Nottingham 09!I remember trying to read them in year10 after watching LotR the Fellowship otR. They were really boring and hard to get into I seem to recall. I remember thinking it would take discipline to get through all the three books.(Original post by thetopnotch)
the books are awesome too
For everyone in this thread, when do all of your exams start?
My exams start on 20th May (D1 oh the joys), and finish 21st of June, a whole month of solid revision
You?
EDIT: Just checked your spoiler :P:Last edited by vinsta; 16-04-2009 at 11:46. -
Re: University of Nottingham 09!well, half dozen may be an exaggeration. A few at least. Um. if I can remember...(Original post by LozengeC)
Which ones did you sign up for?
x
Cycling (but never even got my bike out of the shed all term), Real Ale Soc, mathsoc, christian union. (im sure there was another, cant even remember!)
The only one I'm involved in is christian union.
Bearing in mind societies all cost money to join (for me ranging from 3quid (which socs have to charge) for CU to £10 for cycling, and more for other costly socs) I would recomend you think about what socs you will actually take part in rather than signing up to loads! By all means get involved, they're great, but don't go overboard like I did, I just wasted money :P -
Re: University of Nottingham 09!Aye, they do look like quite a bit of effort to read but it only took me a while to get through them in the end(Original post by vinsta)

Re: University of Nottingham 09!I don't think I've posted in this thread yet, but I firmed Nottm a while back and I'm very excited to go. I can't wait for september.(Original post by thetopnotch)
the books are awesome too
For everyone in this thread, when do all of your exams start?
My first exam is on May 13th [English Language retake...an attempt to get the B up to an A] then I don't have another until June 4th. My last exams are on June 18th, but my Synoptic English exam clashes with my AEA History exam so I'm not sure what will happen. Perhaps one of them will be moved to the next day. I already have an exam in the morning, and these two afternoon exams are 2 1/2 hours and 3 hours long respectively, so I'll be a tad irritated if they make me take them all on the same day. -
Re: University of Nottingham 09!ooo that sounds quite long if they do make you take them on the same day...What halls are you staying in/appled for? the halls threads have started up too on the forum...the Hu Stu one died though(Original post by Kammy-)
