Default Are bacteria animals? Are they better than plants?

They're so small, and some are made of single cells aren't they? So where do bacteria fit in the categories of life?

Prokaryotes, which is separate from Animalia and Plantae. They're usually considered the most basic organism, if you exclude viruses as living.

They do, they fit into the Kingdom of prokaryotae (this is a biological term, just a warning). In Biology , a kingdom is of species differentition behind (there are many of these, namely species, genera, families, orders, classes, phyla and kingdoms). But in general they are not really classed as animals IMO
