Default What A-levels?

Yes another of these threads, I'm so ashamed

But anyway, obviously I need some help pretty please. Last year I started for a month but had some issues and left, I'd chosen Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Physics and Psychology.

The list of A-levels I can do is here.

Now career wise, some chance of medicine, or something to do with animal behaviour or similar - certainly it's most likely to be a sciencey course (I notice some animal behaviour ones etc are BAs but still seem to be science based?)

I'll be doing Chemistry and Biology for certain.

I also feel a language would be good (I have no language GCSE), I'm tempted by Italian, although there's more help around for Spanish.. I never had a natural talent for languages, but then I tended to mess around in French a fair bit, and then couldn't cope when made to do 2 in 1 go, got too confused. But I'd like 1 or the other. But that's not 100% fixed.

My last 1 I don't know what at all though - definitely not Maths, if I'm too stuck I will do Physics, but I certainly don't want to close that option yet. It has to be something reasonably respected. I started psychology last year and quite enjoyed it, not sure if it's be a good 4th or not?

Not interested in english lang or lit, media studies, drama etc, don't think I could do economics at all. History I got a D at GCSE (was aiming for a B but I screwed up, didn't revise).

I am better with things with more definite answers, hence enjoying sciences - also why I think a language would be good as it's a fairly set thing of what it means.

But some suggestions would be good, or ideas on whether my ideas now would fit careers etc. Thanks

How did you find doing all the sciences including maths and psychology.
You're right about psychology being interesting.
I think maybe:

Chemistry Biology(your certain ones which are good) Psychology and Maths? Do you like maths?
are you sure you want to definitely do a language?

Languages are hard. Are you studying a language at GCSE at the moment? See how you get on with that, and then if you still want to take it for AS, then by all means go for it. I do Psychology and I wouldn't recommend it. It is interesting at times, but it just pure learning and regurgitating facts, with a bit of application shoved in here and there. I would wholeheartedly suggest English Lit. Out of the five ASs I do, it's the one I was most apprehensive about taking and now it's my favourite one. Have a look at the course and see what you think.

I said in my 1st post a definite no to maths I don't enjoy it at all and I find it hard.

I'm not 100% about a language but it would obviously be a big advantage to have 1 for most things, and I think it'd keep my options a bit more open. As I said I don't even have a GCSE in any.

I wasn't clear, but the only 2 languages I'll do are italian or spanish Though that with french replaced is a possibility.

Nope, I'm on a complete gap year atm, so I'd be doing the GCSE and AS and A2 in the 3 years (though I'd start learning a bit before september to put myself at an advantage I think!).

English Lit is a definite no, I'm really just not good enough at that kind of thing, I was aiming for a C at GCSE in it (I know it's different but even still, it scares me)

I was also wondering about something like Classical Civilisations A level (though that would be instead of a language, wouldn't trust myself trying to learn the latin words at the same time as a language!)? Or maybe something like RS as a good all-round subject?

Sorry for being fussy

Oh and sorry about that
Maths ok is a no no.
I suggest Bio, Chem, Psychology and a language then seeing as english lit and maths are out of the question

(English lit is one of those subjects where there isn't a certain answer and so it is scary however it is a respectable subject!)

RS would be good and IMO better than the language (the language beeing harder that is) seeing as you don't do one at GCSE or have I got that wrong again

Nope got it right

I didn't do 1 at GCSE, on a gap year now so would have time to learn a bit before starting in September though. Not too worried about it being harder to be honest though, more after enjoyment levels really (I'll get better grades in something harder that I enjoy than something easy that I don't).

From that combination then, I could also think about Chem, Bio, RS and a language I guess?

Hmm thanks

er NO! If you are doing three a-levels, many unis prefer it if you have a contrast subject like a language instead of maths chem and bio.

Hmm, is Environmental science a "good" A-level, anyone know?

And also, is archaeology? That looks interesting

ER NO. how the feck is french gonna help you when your tring to operate on someone??? surely its much better to have knowlage on physics about such laws as persure etc. believe me 3 sciences plus maths is ideal for anyone wanting a science degree such as medicine. learning french simply dosent help.
