Default Ordering contact lenses online...

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I couldn't think of a more suitable one, and it's vaguely about health!

I want to buy my next set of contact lenses online rather than going in and stuff, basically I have my perscription in front of me, from my opticians from home (I'm at a different city at uni).

On the Specsavers website you can order them online and just put your perscription in...

I get that bit, but it's different from my perscription. Like on my perscription there are three boxes with numbers

'Sphere' 'Cyl' and 'axis'

But on the specsavers page the three categories are

'base curve' 'diameter' 'sphere'.

And you can't change the numbers on 'base curve' or 'diameter'

Sorry if that makes no sense, but basically has anybody ordered them online before or know what the hell to do or what the numbers mean?

Thanks verrrrrrrrrrry much in advance.

Also if this would be suitable in another forum could someone please move it... thanks.

All CL have a base curve and diameter, you generally shouldn't need to change them. All you need is the sphere. Are you sure you have your CL presc. in front of you and not your glasses prescription? The link I clicked on, are the right base curve for that type of lens, which when I cliked on as well can't be changed. Like I said, there aren't that many types of base curves in contact lenses.

I have my glasses perscription in front of me, but I thought you could just use that.

But I've just done some googling and apparently they are different?

I'm getting so confused with all this toric and astigmatism stuff, I'm just going to have to go into specsavers!

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: my CYL thing is -0.75 for my right eye and -o.50 for my left, so apparently this means I need an aspheric lens. If I just order an aspheric lens, with my sphere perscription thing that should be fine shouldn't it? Maybe I'll just get one months supply to test it. I'm scared of opticians lol.

Yeah they are different because glasses are further away from your face whereas CL as you know sit on your eye. Erm, do you have a written copy of your CL prescription on you, cause I might be able to help you order them? You definitely can't use your glasses prescription though, for sure.

God ordering contact lenses online is such a faf. The base curve, diameter and sphere don't change i think if you just click on the drop-down menu there is only one option.
Took me ages to sort mine out as my optician wasn't that compliant- they can't blame me seeing as it's so darn expensive through my local opticians and is so cheap online!
