Should I just leave it then, what's the likelihood of getting your third choice? I definitely don't want catered though, would it be safest just to put down Sheavyn House as my third option? I don't mind an ensuite just a bit more pricey.
I had the same first two choices as you, and put Whitworth Park as my third choice. But I guess it depends how importand Fallowfield is to you, though...

I really wanted Fallowfield but I did select the 'campus is important to me' option so I don't know if that changes anything. If you're at manchester now which of your choices did you end up with?

    Essentially your two options are
    - go for self catered / shared bathroom in city campus (grosvenor, for instance)
    - go for en suite in fallowfield. If you're going to do that, then I think sheavyn is a good choice.

You're relatively likely to get OH as there are 1200 rooms, and 95% of people end up happy with whichever halls they get put in. If all else fails and you really hate the halls you end up in, then don't forget that it's always possible to move - some people drop out as early as freshers, so their rooms become available.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for OH, seeing as I'm on a gap yah I applied for accommodation on the 1st of march so I hope that'll make a difference! Going to email manc now and change my third option to Sheavyn, thank for your help.

    Accommodation
I am running just a tad late with my accommodation malarkey... I want a good social life so I was looking at Fallowfield- I think I'm going to put Sheavyn House and Richmond Park because they're ensuite.

But then I have spare slot and I wanted to put another ensuite so I thought I would go for a Victoria Park, which out of these has the best social life?

    Victoria Hall
    Burkhardt House
    Pankhurst Court
    Canterbury Court

I don't want to be left somewhere really quite and unsociable, with Victoria Park do that?

    Thank you

    Re: Accommodation
VP does tend to attract people who prefer tea, chocolate biscuits and a movie over all-nighters at Warehouse Project. It's also a bit of a pain to get to in some respects, as it's off the main Oxford / Wilmslow Road bus route.

TBH you don't really need an en suite, because
    a) you'll never have to queue for a shared one - I can honestly say that I've never had to queue this year for a shower / loo. In Oak House, you share 2 loos & 2 showers / baths between 8 people.
    b) cleaners clean shared bathrooms ~twice a week, but they never clean en suites
    c) shared bathrooms actually remain fairly clean
    d) you get free loo roll in shared bathrooms
    e) shared bathroom is about £30 a week cheaper - enough to feed me all week, and have a night out.

Hey guys .. I would be studying pharmacy and want my accommodation to be as close to stopford building as possible... I narrowed it down to these 3 accommodations :

    SAINT GABRIELS HALL
    weston hall
    LAMBERT AND FAIRFIELD HALL

    Are they good choices?
I need it to be ensuite .. catered / self catered doesn't really matter

and also should hav single sex areas .. any sort of advice would be much appreciated guys!!!

unless you go for the all female hall, I think most of the ensuites are mixed flats, single sex is usually only for shared bathrooms (and even that is beginning to be omitted)

You can't I'm afraid, it's just the name of the hall has two names in it but it is infact just one hall if that makes sense? I know next to nothing on L&F other than it's down by north campus and is ensuite. From all your choices you should have no problem being able to work there, everywhere is only noisy during freshers and then it quietens down.

Oh when I am trying to fill the application form its giving me two separate options for Lambert and fairfield .. Btw which accommodation do you recommend if I just want to be close to university [stopford building] .. the accommodation should be modern-ensuite

Thank you so much for replying btw.

hey, i really cant decide on halls! so pleeeease help!!

I'm definitely putting richmond park and sheavyn as first and second choice..
but cant decide on the third..

I'd love to be in fallowfield, cos i want to be somewhere really sociable and fun! but i do want ensuite, and self-catered!

so thinking about city campus, or victoria.. but cant decide!! i've heard that they're both really quiet, and i really want to be somewhere lively.. so if anyone could advise me that'd be amazing!!

St Gabs is in Victoria Park, so not that close to Stopford, and in terms of travelling time it's just as far away as Fallowfield. It's also filled with girls (international, mainly, often religious types), who couldn't countenance the idea of a guy coming near them. I only know one person who was put in there, and she got out as soon as she could, describing it as being a bit like some kind of weird boarding school.

Both Weston and Lambert & Fairfield have a reputation as being a bit boring. I'm also not really sure what the single-sex area thing means in reality there. My own hall claims to have single sex areas, but it just means that (as the accommodation is in maisonettes) one floor is for the guys and one is for the girls, but in reality the flats are totally mixed. That may be the case in Weston and Lambert & Fairfield - I don't know.

Whitworth Park is by far the closest to Stopford Building (almost opposite) but has shared bathrooms. However, shared bathrooms are in many ways better, because
    a) you'll never have to queue for a shared one - I can honestly say that I've never had to queue this year for a shower / loo.
    b) cleaners clean shared bathrooms ~twice a week, but they never clean en suites

    e) shared bathroom is about £30 a week cheaper - enough to feed me all week, and have a night out.
    f) you'll have to share a bathroom in second year houses, so you may as well get used to it now

I'm curious as to why you're worried about having single sex areas though?

Because I want catered accommodation. My favourites were Woolton, Ashburne and Richmond (even though it's self-catered, it was nice ). Woolton was brilliant

hey if you don't mind me asking.. what did you like about woolton?

ahh didn't realise that! I have no idea which is quieter I'm afraid. In terms of which is closer your best bet would be something in Victoria park then, the halls which is technically closest to stopford is whitworth park which is bang opposite it, however that isn't ensuite.

Thank you so much for all the information...
Sorry if I sound sexist but I think boys create a lot of mess in the kitchen.. so I was thinking may be single sex areas will suit me better as all the girls will be sharing the kitchen it will be much cleaner... the same goes for the toilet for me.. I am just worried of it not being clean enough.. but yh may be you are right .. I think I am just worrying too much ... I need to definately give my choices a second thought.

I agree with tillytots - we have clean boys, clean girls, messy boys and messy girls in my flat. Plus, even when it states single-sex areas, you might find that the kitchen is mixed sex anyway.

With bathrooms, certainly in Oak House, just because of the way the flat is laid out, there's one loo / shower that the girls tend to use, and there's another loo / shower that the boys tend to use. But in reality, there's not really any difference in cleanliness between the two.

And don't forget that there is a cleaner for all communal areas who comes in about twice a week.
