    Re: manchester 2012 deposit?
I checked out of my accommodation yesterday and when I asked OP reception when I'd get my deposit back, they stated that it wasn't a deposit but a 'pre-payment'. Double check if the £400 is a deposit or pre-payment - you may have a shock when you don't get it back next year...

In that case mine's a prepayment. It's all good, since it goes towards my rent anyway.

The prepayment was why the last term's rent installment was £200 (for us) lower than the previous two terms, so you do get it back, but in the form of a credit against your account IYSWIM.

You are required to make a prepayment of £400.00 which must be paid in order to be guaranteed accommodation. We will use the prepayment in partial settlement of the single or final instalment of the Residence Fees where appropriate. This amount will be deducted from your final rent instalment. This prepayment is non-refundable subject to certain circumstances.

I have an unconditional offer, but haven't gotten the email from them yet; it's making me sort of anxious.

It will come I think they send out the emails in a staggered format, rather than all on one day

    Hey everyone!

I just received my accommodation offer. It's Bukhardt House. Any reviews (big or small, stupid or sensible) would be really very helpful.

I'm kind of worried about my accommodation application, I did it in December I think and rushed into it a little with the excitement of getting an offer, I can't remember whether I prioritised location or ensuite first. At the moment I think I'd actually prefer Oak House (2nd choice) and the extra money from not paying for an ensuite.

Is it not too late? I think I need to think about it a little bit more before doing anything but time is running out a little bit I guess

Do it as soon as possible. The worst they can say is no, and I'm willing to bet that the only time it will be too late is if you've already been given an accommodation offer

I think you can change your preferences till just before the offers are given out. I changed my preferences, with Manchester's approval, just 3 days before I got my offer.

New intelligence: the ducks drink water.
We must use this to our advantage.

I've left my room now so no more ducks for me! I don't know if this is a blessing or not, there are sooooo many pigeons on the roof of my new flat and they keep cooing....

S'alright. I'll bring my shotgun with me when I come back up in September and stop them cooing for you. I hear pigeon pie tastes lovely, and you can always freeze any you don't need immediately

Incredibly tempted to take you up on this offer, they appear to be having a rather large party right above my head at the moment....

This would also help my food budgeting greatly... I like your plan.
