The first one is quite bizarre - I would guess that Ni has an oxidation state of 3+ (it can't be 1, 2, or 4 other wise there would be fractional charges on the anions)

K2MnO4, K is +1, O is -2 leaving Mn as 6+

Couldn't it be a mixed oxidation state in the first one? I guess that's a little complicated for A level.

Yeah, it's possible I've never encountered SI4 before (it could even be made up?) and so it's my best guess rather than a definitive answer :p:
