Where did you work for work experience whilst at Secondary school?

Re: Where did you work for work experience whilst at Secondary school?I was supposed to do 2 weeks at a call centre for The Daily Telegraph but the programme was only 1 week so I just stayed at home for the second week. Then, in year 12, I did a week at a country music magazine which was just in a study in the editor's house.

Re: Where did you work for work experience whilst at Secondary school?Yessss I did... on the first day I was cleaning out enclosures which was just bleak. It was the middle of June and so hot but after that I spent time with animals. I walked reindeer around the zoo, gave a pig a bath and each day I had to feed and pet the lambs, feed the llamas (they spit, it's grim) and hang out in the rat enclosure. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but it was so fun(Original post by darkblue)

2 weeks at a major German newspaper
2 weeks at the local hospital's surgical ward, including observing live surgery
3 weeks at my brother's school for mentally disabled children
As the variety might have already suggested, I did not do any of these for my CV but out of personal interest

Once a week for 2 months at a primary school in year 10
1 week at a dentists in year 10
2 weeks at vision express in year 12
1 week at tesco opticians in year 12
1 week at a hospital in the eye unit in year 13 (the week just gone! I organised this after writing my personal statement and getting uni offers etc - just did it for personal enjoyment... and it was the COOLEST WEEK OF MY LIFE)

In year 10, I did two weeks at an adults college, doing admin work and it was pretty boring. In year 13, I did a week in the medicinal chemistry labs at GlaxoSmithKline, which was a lot more exciting

Re: Where did you work for work experience whilst at Secondary school?a week in a primary school. it was OK actually, i was with a Year 1 class for the majority of the week and mostly they were quite sweet. one thing i learnt/forgot (and was then reminded) was that little kids love snitching on each other. they know the school rules, and if someone breaks one they immediately go to the teacher and say so. they're gonna learn the complete reverse when older...

Unfortunately, as it was the last week of term all the display work had to be taken down - guess what mug got that job? There was 6/7/8 year olds standing crying as I took their work off the wall, they all hated me...
I remember overhearing a girl from reception saying "she looks warm" (well, I had been up a ladder for hours ripping paper off the wall) and another said "she's not even that beautiful". Fair to say I will not be starting a career in teaching, it put me off for life, especially when Benjii from Y1 ran at me with a pencil.

Re: Where did you work for work experience whilst at Secondary school?I did two weeks at Milton Keynes Music Service, helping the peri teachers in their lessons and even taking some.
There was one afternoon when the head didn't know where to send me, so he had me put 250 letters into envelopes and seal them. But at least that was just the one day. -
