Busking in York/Scarborough

Does anyone know anything about the busking laws in York and Scarborough? I know in York you need the busking badge license thing but I've had some trouble working out where to get one from.. any clues? I emailed the council and was passed from pillar to post with no success!

Don't know but why do you want to busk. How much money can you make? Aren't you better of getting a job?

I dunno it's just something I've always wanted to do, I don't get much chance to perform with my guitar nowadays and the loooong summer ahead is making me wonder how I'm going to fill it, besides going full-time with my job.
