Heyya! I'm trying to send a video to a friend over MSN, but it's like 300MB and it's going to take all day. It won't attach to an email... is there a quicker way to send it? I don't understand how itunes can download an entire season of Scooby Doo in less than half an hour but a four minute video takes forever and a day to send- any suggestions of how to get it there quicker? Your help will be much appreciated?

Try Megaupload or Rapidshare and than send your friend the download links.

It's because download speeds are way faster than upload speeds. It will still take the piss uploading a file that big via yousendit, rapidshare etc. Best thing to do would be to put it on a CD and hand it over to your friend.

Hey, thanks for the replies! Yousendit didn't seem to work, but I'll try it again if all else fails, and I'm already on megaupload, so hopefully that'll work! (although mega, wtf? it's almost as slow as MSN!)

4 minute video is 300MB? Surely you could reduce that a fair bit. Do you need the quality to be like HD?

A 4 minute YouTube video is hardly 300MB, for example.

Uploading will always be slow unless you have a super mega uber connection speed.

You'll need to make a free account, doesn't take long. The upload speeds are not immensely fast, but I have always found them pretty good.

I'd happily reduce the quality if I knew how! How do you do it?
This is what I get for having a good camera :P

It's all about your upload/download speed.

Home connections in the UK are generally 'asymmetric' - the download is about 10 times faster than the upload. Sites like iTunes have a larger upload speed. So, when you try to upload a video, you are limited by your upload speed. When you download a video (or many simultaneously), you are limited by your download speed. But since your download is 10 times as fast as your upload, your 300MB file will take 10 times longer to upload than download.

    Basically this.

Edit: Sorry, loads of people have said this already.

    1. You get skype. Make an account.
    2. Your friend gets skype. They make an account.
    3. You add your friend on skype.
    4. You send the file.

Skype is far faster at sending files than msn. I sent various large files (up to 1.5GB) to Oli over Skype. It makes a direct connection to send the file, whereas MSN uses a middleman and all these file hosting solutions above require you to upload the file, then them download it, not directly sending it.
