THIS is why I refuse to study 'gender' in politics. You don't study gender, you study women. Women are the only gender. You study violence against women despite the fact that the majority of violence is against men. You study female writers not because they are good writers, but because they are female. Despite the fact that 90% of civilian casualties in every war are male, we condemn the 'innocent women' targeted in 'gendercide'.

Oh, and just to add. Beyonce is a mainstream artist, and I have not heard any condemnation of her lyrics.

I've heard people condemning her lyrics. More than I've personally heard people condemn Eminem (although you're right, there probably is more condemnation of him out there in general. But then, his lyrics are a LOT more hateful).

I agree actually, the lyrics are quite emasculating. But similarly, 'Single Ladies' is quite sexist too: 'Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it' - afterall, women only want diamond rings and the chance to be bridezilla

I agree with Miyavi. I am a feminist, which means I believe in equal rights. For BOTH genders. Many tend to think feminists are man hating women who think women should have more rights. Not true. Equality goes both ways. Women still have loads of sexism issues today, but the men's sexism issues are overlooked. For example, Fathers For Justice. Everyone sees them as superhero-clad idiots, but their aim is to get equal access to their children, as custody automatically goes to the mother usually, no matter what the situation. (Note that I said USUALLY).
