Re: DLA Piper Interview Experience/Tips?
Hey, I'm new to this site...but it looks like a great place to share knowledge. I've been invited to an interview at DLA Piper for a vacation placement next week and was wondering if anybody has been through one and if they could offer any information.
Thanks -
Re: DLA Piper Interview Experience/Tips?
I had one last year for one of the regional offices, it seemed like a straight forward interview format, but I think they tried to see how I reacted in odd situations as they laughed their heads off at my first answer (which can't have been wrong, they only asked where I'd travelled from!). They let me lead the interview but asked me to back up any claims I made (for example I mentioned the credit crunch and they asked me to explain what I understood by the credit crunch).

Re: DLA Piper Interview Experience/Tips?
so did they ask you questions about your answers on your application form? or about you as a person? or was it a competency based interview? sorry about all the questions lol. How long was the interview for? and was it with associates or HR or both?
again sorry about all the questions...i just want to be prepared -

firms will always ask you questions that are based onyour interview...thats the whole point of the interview - to get to know you better from what youve already said! -
Re: DLA Piper Interview Experience/Tips?
I had my intervew at one of DLA Pipers regional offices last week, the experience was largely informal and lasted roughly 30 mins, i was asked questions about my course, why i wanted to join DLA, what i liked about the city and then personality questions based on a challenge i'd faced and how my friends would describe me.
Each candidate was given a guided tour of the offices by a current trainee, i found everyone to be friendly and really accomodating.
I'd advise candidates to brush up on a firm's global or high profile clients, large mergers or deals that hey have acted on behalf of and fundamentally key principles or ideals that underpin the buisness e.g DLA'S "Everything matters". I'd say know about the structure of your firm, senior partners, CEO'S or chairmans and finally learn about any intiatives or key projects that have run in the given catchment area e.g commitment to corporate social responsibility (fundraising sponsorship etc) all this research will indicate a commitment to the firm which combined with your personal attributes is what they are looking for.
I did all of the above for my regional office and I have just found out today I've got on the summer vac scheme. I come from a russell group red brick have good extra curricular activities and have a low 2.1 average so don't be deterred! good luck everyone. x

Re: DLA Piper Interview Experience/Tips?Hi Tina, was wondering what types of questions they ask about your course? Were there questions along the lines of Why did you choose your course or University? Or were there questions on particular modules (favourite/least favourite etc)? Would appreciate any help! Thank You.(Original post by tina86)
