If you knew anything about the Intelligence Services you would have read on their website that is says "if you tell anyone about your application to work for MI5/6, besides your immediate family, your application could be compromised"

The A level in secrecy on AQA (www.aqa.org.uk/qual/gcse/secrA) Good luck

ones that will get you into uni.
they want a degree in anything so take what you like.
A levels in Spying, surveillance and digital devices
A-levels that you are interested in and/or are good at.

This is probably the only time Critical Thinking will be a student's main subject.
The first objective response to the thread:

Geography, Economics, History, Politics.

And supplementary language courses in Arabic and/or Chinese.
anything, ive applied with biology, chemistry and economics.. decided not to go through with it though, too far to travel

I work for the "civil service" as we call it.

Theres no specific qualification, it depends as with all jobs on what you want to specialise in.
I'm a translator, because I'm good with languages, having being bilingual since being a very young child (english and ukrainian) + I can speak french and russian fluently.
Totally depends on what you want to do within the service, its an organisation like any other, and a myriad of different positions.

Maths, History, Chemistry and a language.

I know a language would be extremely useful, in my case i'd have to take french, im just concerned that it will be too much for me :P
im considering chemistry, biology, History and Psychology atm, but
french, politics and maths are at the back of my mmind :s-smilie: what do u think are th best ones? x

defo maths for MI5 you got to be problem solving, logical, youll need maths for that.

Well as we don't even know her real name, and she's not currently in the process of applying (is just thinking about it in the future) I think she's safe!

History and maths are a good two options I think

God I seem to really be in the past, here's me thinking that MI6 recruited through professors at Oxbridge, these days they have such things as "application forms"!

A-Levels are not an issue. You can apply to be a Desk Officer with any degree so long as you've attained a 2:1 or better. What the intelligence services are desperately short of is translaters. If you really want to join, I suggest learning Chinese and/or Arabic. There's a list of languages they're recruiting for on their website - check it out.
