Perhaps you can email the organisations to get an idea of what they expect from the letter, or maybe the college will be willing to help your further.
Dear sir/madam (or Dear charitable organisation)

I have been offered a place to read <subject> at <college> Oxford/Cambridge, starting in October 2009. My position is such <possibly give brief details> that I will need some financial support if I am to be able to take up the offer.

I understand that <charitable organisation> might be able to offer such support <possible general details of why you are especially worthy: disadvantaged country / region, 1st in family / school to go to University / Oxford, have overcome illness/disability, etc etc.) <possible few words about specialism of charity - e.g. "as I believe you are especially interested in supporting advanced study for impoverished quadruple amputees from Rockall") .

Could you please send me further details, and let me know how I might apply?

Thank you,

yours faithfully
