US threat for torture case

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7870049.stm

David Davis said a High Court ruling on Wednesday alleged that Binyam Mohamed, a UK resident held in the Guantanamo Bay camp in Cuba, had been tortured.

The ruling also said the US threatened to withdraw intelligence help from the UK if details were released.

The judges said the UK's attorney general has begun a criminal investigation into possible torture.

Is a prisoner of Guantanamo Bay, apparently trained in an Al-Qaeda camp worth the national security of the British people?

No, but i suppose its the principle. Lets say, for example, you are falsely accused of being part of ETA and are picked up by the spanish security services and are totured, surely you's want the British government to investigate even if Spain was trying to use their assistance in the war on terror as leverage.

(I do realise that the US is possilbly a more useful ally when it comes to intelligence than Spain but I hope you can see my point!)
