I'm thinking about buying the maths one. Does anyone know the exact difference between the old one and the new one? The IB store says that it's been aligned to the new syllabus for first examinations 2006. Surely, the new syllabus is for first examinations in 2008?? Does anyone know which are the latest papers included in the new questionbank?
Thanks.

I bought it. Definitely worth it. Questions run from May 1999-2008 and splits them per area of syllabus, difficulty, and number of marks, iirc. There are also the associated markschemes and examiner reports.

When they say first examinations 2006 I believe they may mean the student group which started in 2006, but not sure.

I think so, as there aren't only MXX (may) and NXX (november) but also PXX ... which I guess must mean they're extra specimen questions? Maybe like 1/20th of the questions are PXX though, there aren't THAT many

hmm, do u think its worth getting the question bank if you have access to all past paper questions? Like are the extra questions, assessor's notes, etc. worth it?

Well it is really useful having the markscheme. The assessor's notes are quite a nice addition but not entirely necessary. It does help being able to seperate by topic so that you can revise one section at a time, and the whole thing is layed out pretty nicely so it's nice and easy to use.

I don't know though, it really depends how much you value your money. Because of my personal financial situation, the 200 odd dollars or whatever it was isn't such a large expense, so there wasn't much harm in ordering it even if it wasn't too useful. However if that's not the case for you, and you already have all the past papers, then I think you're alright as long as you also have all the markschemes too (which you should definitely get your hands on if you don't have them already). I'm not sure it's worth paying the 200 dollars for the few extra questions and layout alone.

thanks that's very helpful. Me and my mates will probably split the cost though, making it cheaper, so that should make it worth it

Oh yeah I'd definitely suggest that, as you can install the CD on as many computers as you want.

My parents paid for mine... and I'm selling locked copies of the files to my friends for 50 dollars, giving them a password that works for one installation only, so they can't sell it on

PURE PROFIT!

Could anyone tell me if they are willing to share any new questionbanks anytime soon? I'm not stingy or anything, its just that I really can't afford it (that includes my parents ).

We are doing after IB and CAS after all (you know with service to others, especially those in need (a.k.a me )). Hey, I wonder if you can get CAS hours for this...

Cheers

Email the sales department asking for the update. If they have any courtesy they will give you the new version.
