M3 Shm

hey can anyone help? been trying this question for aaaaaaaages and i can't get it!

A particle moves with SHM about a mean position O. The particle is initially projected from O with speed pi/6 ms-1 and just reaches a point A, 2m from O.

find how far the particle is from O 3 seconds after projection.

this is the first part of the quesition, the 2nd part i can manage, i thnk.

can you assume that the amplitude is 2m? i just can't seem to find omega! i got omega as pi/12 but then using that to find displacement doesn't give the right answer.....

please help guys. :tsr:

u cant ASSUME , amplitude IS 2 m. coz it said it JUST reached 2 m

A = 2
Vmax = wA
V max is when the particle is at the centre = pi/6
pi/6 = w . 2
w = pi/12

S = A sin(wt)
S = 2 sin ( pi/12 . 3 )
S = 2 in ( pi/4 )
S = sqrt[2]
