Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AOh that was good! If only I did that when I had the same problem... never got told about it. In the end I phoned them up about 5 times, cos they changed it wrong and then made a mess of it! =P(Original post by PatrickD)
Okay thanks, I'll phone them now. Hopefully they reset it soon as the deadline is in a week! At least now I know this is possible as I wasn't sure if my application could be reset.
EDIT: The customer advisor I spoke with said that, because I have come so far with my application (entering all details except my parents' income), I should just enter '0' in every income box on my online application and then send a covering letter to the SFE office. She was really helpful and I'm glad I can sort the issue out now.
EDIT 2: After I'd entered '0' into every box and gone to the final page before submitting my application, the option, 'You can also apply non-income assessed' appeared! Needless to say I clicked it and submitted my application two minutes later. Thank goodness for that! -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AIt was a stroke of luck really. I was planning on sending the letter (already had it written(Original post by Quexx)

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AIncome related bursaries are usually based on data given to student finance so you're probably better off contacting your uni/giving student finance your financial details anyway if you have the option.(Original post by MissLightyear)
Im going to be studying an NHS funded course, so my loan isnt means-tested, will this affect whether I can get income related bursaries from my uni, I remember reading something about them getting information when you sent it to student finance? -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
I'm applying for 2012/2013 income assessed, but they've completely messed up my online application - when I log in, it doesn't let me change anything on my application. I've called them several times, they've told me that they've fixed my application, it should work now, I try to use it, but it doesn't work. It still doesn't work. Does anyone know if there's a PDF that I can fill out by hand and send it to them? I heard someone talking about a PN1 form, or something...? :/

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AI'm in this situation as well and would really like to know the answer.(Original post by Clare1994)
I'm worrying so i've done student finance and just sent off my evidence but saw it says the deadline it the end of the month...
However is the deadline for when you should apply for or the time when everything is done including them processing your application....?
As i know it can take several weeks for your application to be processed
Don't want to end up going to uni and then having to wait for my loan to actually come through :/
I've sent off my evidence (they only asked for a solicitors letter confirming my parents marriage status as they're split, but not officially divorced yet). However, while my application is being processed (they haven't ticked the evidence off yet either - I did send it recorded delivery), I'm concerned that if it isn't processed by the 31st May I won't receive my loan on time, anyone know about this? -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AI'm pretty sure the evidence just has to be in before the time you receive your loan, and not before the application deadline. Cos I think its the same as signing the declaration, which says you have to send this back by the time you receive your first payment. The deadline on the 31st is when I believe they close the internet applications.(Original post by Ratiocinative)

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
You can apply for Student finance any time between 5 months (or so) before your course, right up to the very last day of your course..
the deadline for SF is the end of this month but that is only if you want it guaranteed to be in for when you start your course. -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
Okay, I recieved my student finance letter last Monday. But I was told that I have to register in their website. When I enter the website there are two options: to Log in or to Register. Which one should I use? I already have a student finance number (or something like this) but I've never registered in their website.
I'm a little confused because the Register option says Register and apply for student finance but I have alredy done this. Please, help

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
I'm told my parents have registered before on student finance, but neither of my parents have - the only reason they could be on the system was in supporting my older sister's application 10 years ago, but that was still in the time when they used paper application forms so they definitely wouldn't have any details registered on student finance.....
Help? -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AYou'll have to call SF because your parents NI numbers will already be on record with them.(Original post by Crystalclearmagic)

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
Hi there, I've sent off my application but it's saying I have been sent a declaration to sign but it's been a week and I haven't received anything yet. Does it get sent by post or is it something I download online? I'm just a bit worried since the deadline is so close

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
Hi,
My online application has been sent off.
However, I'm still really worried.
I haven't received a letter from SF (I think this is the declaration you have to sign and send. Does this have to be received by SF by the 31st of May in order to receive my loan on time?)
Do I need to send off ALL evidence to SF by the 31st of May in order to receive my loan on time e.g P60 (if they request so via letter, and declaration of marital status -separated?)
Thanks -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & AAh ok I see, thanks for your help(Original post by Shani)
You'll have to call SF because your parents NI numbers will already be on record with them. -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
Hi, I sent off my application around 11 days ago and a couple of days ago, my dad got sent a letter asking for evidence of his income. But since looking on my SF application, it says they're not waiting on any evidence items from me, my dad or my mum and the evidence section is marked as completed...confused? The evidence hasn't been sent off yet btw. And the application is 'still processing'.

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
Hey guys.
Kinda confused here about the deadline for EU students... OK. So I've heard it's up until nine months after I send my application and if I apply before the 31st of May and I'm approved, the SF will transfer the money to the uni around September. However, I'm not sure which university to write down as my exam results come out in 10 days... I'm just wondering what happens if you give your firm university but you don't meet the offer and have to go with insurance choice. Do I contact them when my results come out and if necessary and possible change the university choice? Or is it better to wait for the results first and then apply? Can't find information anywhere so I'll be happy with any reply! Thanks in advance! -
Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & ANo, you just let them know if there is any change and they will send you out new confirmation letters. The Uni they originally had me down for did not offer me a place so I had to change it - there was no problem, they expect peoples choices/outcomes to change.(Original post by Romerohousecaptain)
does anyone know how many applications need to be made? Ive done one but it is only for my firm uni choice - what if i dont get in? Will i need another application for me insurance!?

Re: Student Finance Applications - Q & A
On the evidence page for my parent whos supporting my application, you need to print a cover letter for the evidence youre gonna send in. Theres a button that says print cover letter, when I click it it opens a new tab that leads to the same page and then gives me an error that says you aren't supposed to have two tabs open and that I should close the window. What do I do? Can I send the evidence in without a cover letter? Are there other ways to get the cover letter? Has anyone else had this problem?

) but when I entered 0 in each box and clicked next the option just appeared on the next page. I'm just glad it's all sorted now.
