Predictions? Despite the Tories being the bookies favourites at the mo, I still think Labour can turn things around, as the Conservatives are not as far ahead as Labour in the polls as they should be. I feel sick at the thought of cameron becoming our next primeminister *shivers*
Personally, I shiver at the thought of Brown in control for even a second longer.
I don't know about the result though; Tory predictions are growing, but there's still a lot of anti-Conservative opinion among younger generations, so whether they'll manage to become more "popular" than Labour is questionable.

Yeah, but to be fair, you support a Prime Minister who enacts stuff like this and this. So, er, thanks for that.
Anyway, not only will Labour obviously get smacked about like a toddler in Haringey, but if the latest polls are to be believed (I'm skeptical, but we'll see), as can be seen here, hopefully we might even have a new opposition! Even if it is the Lib Dems...

'one eyed scottish idiot'............sums it up really. What's quite funny is Clarkson has apologised for the 'one-eyed scottish' part but is refusing to apologise for the 'idiot'.......
conservatives will win and i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of high profile labour mp's lose their seats.
i also wouldn't be suprised if the lib dems were then the opposition...
Cameron has no substance, he jumps on every bandwagon going so much so that he hasn't got a clue what direction he wants his policies to take anymore. Brown is by no means perfect, but at least he isn't just a PR showman.

We'll have to wait and see.
I always thought there was more of pro-Conservative opinion among young generations.
It is highly unlikely but possible that the Labour party can turn things around before the next general election but that would only depend on them having a new leader and not just any leader but one that will be seen as assertive and in control.
It is also possible that if the BNP makes significant gains in the European Elections and the major parties continues to ignore peoples reasons for voting for the BNP, then the BNP may get a few seats probably one. Although for that to happen, race riots and increased unemployment would need to occur in certain parts of the country.
Although the prospect of this happening feels me with abject terror.

really? i think labour are doing surprisingly well considering we are in the middle of a deep recession at the moment. in fact, i think the Tories should be way ahead in the polls, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

How come?

I cringe at the thought of any of Brown, Cameron or Clegg (although we all know that won't happen) being PM for any significant length of time. I just don't trust them and I think a lot of people are in the same boat - so who knows what'll happen at the GE.

yeah, i honestly think that labour are going to lose alot of seats.
i don't really care if they do, as long as david miliband keeps his seat
though i alos think al ot of people don't trust the tories.
who knows! a lot can happen between now and an election. though i think it will take a miracle for labour to still be in.a miracle for them, i like the conservatives.
The Tories will win, I would certainly predict. I just hope they're clever enough to remind us what another Labour government would look like: ID cards for a start.
All the same, I'll be quite sad. My MP is a complete ****, totally useless, but gets elected because my constituency also covers a donkey-in-a-red-rosette town - he'll inevitably keep his seat. Meanwhile the neighbouring MP, who is Labour but a solidly decent sort of guy looks like he may well be unseated by the Conservatives (and I'll probably end up participating in the campaigning against him).
In my experience, the really incompetent MPs never get culled off.
I can't say I like the idea of Cameron a PM, but at least we'll actually get a semi-sound fiscal policy and ID cards'll be scrapped. I don't know what I'm going to do if Labour wins; I really don't want to spend an extra two years under Comrade Brown's dictatorship.
I think the Tories are likely to win. A labour bounce-back is possible, but very unlikely.
The sad thing about it is that people are voting on things that have been done wrong over the last 10 years: not on what policies the parties have for moving forward.
A perfect example of this is the great focus on the national debt. But the Tories never said anything against high public spending at the time because it was so popular - in the 2005 general elections, the Tories were promising to match Labour levels of public spending and instead chose to campaign on immigration. Instead of a gradual approach, all we are likely to end up with under a conservative government is large cuts in public spending.
And guess what? A couple of years down the line this will bite the Conservatives in the butt and Labour will get back into government on a public-services ticket. Cue spending to bring public services back to standard, cue national debt.... cue the Conservatives getting back in a few years later. And so it continues, I sometimes wish the voters would take a long-term view of things instead of a short-term "LOL LABOUR DEBT LOL" thing.
I guess it is true that politics is cyclical. People vote in one party, then get bored and vote in another party a couple of years down the line. The grass isn't greener on the other side people...
