Erm, I've never had one. But I've had three books from the library that are other a week late now, what happens if I don't take them back or pay the fine? Surely if I take them back and put them into one of those "anonymous return" things I won't have to pay?

The worst thing is that in the first month...I went to return the books but the library was closed!

After that...it was pretty much my fault.

wow lol, ive had £18.90 and together the books cost £12.98, the woking library hate me. they also threatened to take me to court if i didnt pay up in 7 days lol.

They might send a bill to your house , cos if you've loaned them with your library card , then they have your details?

Yes, but when you want to take out any other books in the future they won't let you till you've paid the fine.

My largest fine was £20ish

Couple of quid, I always seem to forget by about a week.
Hence why I don't really go to the library any more....

Uhmm im not sure, i had one once , and it was pretty bad ( books and dvds over a fortnight overdue), but i moved house and didnt tell them that was years ago and they still never found me:P

I currently owe £34.50, I managed to get it in one hit and I've had it since last March. I keep meaning to pay it, but I've found myself buying books from the Oxfam Bookshop instead.

They'll send you a letter asking you to pay, and you won't be able to take anymore out unless you pay it. I doubt it'll be much, probably the right side of £2.50. It's not as if they're going to send baliffs round your gaff.
