Re: Largest library fine you've incurred?
i gave my linrary card to my sis, and she borrrowed bare books and never returned them, they kept sending me letters everytime the fine increased till it was someting like £56, my sis just told me to just ignore them, i was well furious because my name was being ruined, eventually they stopped sending me the fine letters, but i can nver go to any library in that borough, as my name is blacklisted
my fauly though for trusting he, never again -
Re: Largest library fine you've incurred?
£30something, this was when I was 13/14 so didn't pay

But, £27.80 was a few months ago = humongous flu and lazy parents who would n.o.t drive me to the library (its too far away to walk while dark) + they didn't want me to dark (this was when it went dark straight after school, and I work all day on Saturdays.
To say the least I was pretty pissed off when my mum had a hissy fit at the bill and made me pay.
One of the books was hers!! -
Re: Largest library fine you've incurred?
I once owed £22.50 to my school library.
Thankfully, I knew them quite well, and when they were in their office I sat on the spinny chair and deleted the amount from my account. Simple. I'm (purposely) on Christmas-card terms with my college library staff this year, too.
Only good things can come from befriending librarians.Last edited by DisgruntledMoth; 07-02-2009 at 20:14. -
Re: Largest library fine you've incurred?
I had a fine of £65ish for 2 books once, they wouldn't let me renew the ones I needed for a project, so I kept them anyway.
Didn't pay it though, not even one penny. They were just glad to get the books back, even though I was the only one to take them out in about 6 years...

..cos the book was a day late!
