Confusing policy!
I applied to bristol to do the Mchemistry course, entry in 2005. Bristol was the last uni I had to hear from, and I had received conditional offers from all my other unis.
Eventually I got a letter from UCAS giving me a conditional offer from bristol for entry in 2006 - they had defered my entry!
After being quite confused by this, I eventually received a letter from Bristol themselves apologizing that they were unable to accept me for entry in 2005 due to the fact that I will be under 18 in Sep05 and that they have a no under18 applicant policy. ( I will be 17 and 10 months!)
I find this really weird considering that fact that no other University has had any problems with my age - with bristol being a top university, i don't understand why age should be an issue to them.
Anybody have any ideas or know why they have a no under18 policy? -
All i know is it's a new thing as of this academic year - so bad timing i'm afraid. Someone who's actually there may know more but I remember reading something about them introducing it for the next intake (it didn't apply last year, there's a couple of people in my sister's hall who are 17).(Original post by IB student uk)

Not entirely sure and don't quote me on this or shout at me if it's wrong but i think it may be something to do with changes they're making to the way they run their accomodation - it's a lot easier for them to run accomodation if they only ever take on over 18s cos otherwise they have to provide loads of other stuff or something like that so they've gone for the easy option because they'v been having a lot of problems with accomodation recently, which the new officer has been trying to sort out.
